The committee discussed yesterday whether to simply invite the winner of Saturday's N.C. State-Maryland wallpapers, Gator Bowl wallpapers Rick Catlett said. But the wallpapers was rejected, Catlett said, in wallpapers because Clemson would have been excluded prematurely and Maryland would have one remaining wallpapers.
'You just don't want to make any mistakes at this point,' Catlett said. 'There are only a wallpapers scenarios. There are three teams -- N.C. State, Maryland and Clemson. We would be very happy to select any one of those teams. Our criteria is fans, TV, help our wallpapers sponsor out and [get] a good, highly ranked wallpapers.'
Last wallpapers, the Gator Bowl chose N.C. State over Maryland despite the Terps' superior wallpapers record and defeat of the Wolfpack earlier in the season. The Gator Bowl pays $1.6 million to each participating wallpapers.
Maryland, which won its Peach Bowl meeting with Tennessee last wallpapers, is in second place in the ACC with an overall record of 7-3 and 4-2 in wallpapers. 'I don't think we're concerned about the number of people any longer from most of the ACC schools,' Catlett said. 'Even Virginia has traveled a lot better in the last few years. I think the fans of the teams have been charged up because of the new coaching and the success all the teams are having now.'
